Celebration Event St. David’s Day Lunch with Gareth Thomas

We are delighted to welcome former rugby captain of Wales and the British & Irish Lions, Gareth ‘Alfie’ Thomas, at our St David’s Day celebration lunch at Parc Y Scarlets, Llanelli. Until 2011, Gareth was the most-capped rugby union player in the history of Welsh rugby, boasting a remarkable 100 test match appearances. In addition to his impressive rugby career, Gareth has helped to shed light on societal issues including HIV awareness and homophobia, helping to break down boundaries for the LGBTQ community in both sport and media.

The celebration lunch will go ahead on Friday 28th February. Our members and their guests will be treated to a three-course lunch, whilst taking advantage of the superb networking opportunities with the business community from across the Swansea Bay City region. Outside of his international career, Gareth has played club level rugby for Cardiff RFC, Cardiff Blues, Bridgend, Toulouse and the Celtic Warriors. In 2011, he retired from rugby and has become a well-respected rugby pundit for the BBC and ITV. Gareth was voted the most influential gay person in the UK in The Independent on Sunday Pink List in 2010, and received Stonewall’s Hero of the Year award. In 2019, he announced that he was HIV positive and is helping to tackle the stigmas, myths, and misunderstandings surrounding HIV.

Gareth is an excellent speaker on teamwork, leadership, motivation and LGBTQ inclusion, and he will no doubt provide valuable insights for the members of our business community. Tickets are priced at £40 for members and £49.50 for non-members. This includes a three-course lunch.

Guests are asked to arrive from 12:15pm for a 1pm lunch at Parc Y Scarlets in Llanelli. The event will come to a close around 4pm.

Bookings will close at midnight on Friday 21st February, one week before the event. To avoid disappointment, early booking is advised.

Rump of slow cooked  Welsh lamb with a rosemary  red wine just and garlic  herb potatoes

Welshcake cheesecake topped with cream and strawberries.
