Death of Well-Respected Former Club President
Swansea Bay Business Club is saddened to hear about the death of Phillip Watkins, a former President of the Club and the son of one of its founder members.
Phillip’s tenure ran from 1988 to 1991 and he will be well-known to many of us for his time at the helm of Swansea’s long-established chartered surveyors and estate agency, John Oliver Watkins and Partners, which was based in Walter Road. John Oliver Watkins acted as estate agents for, among others, parts of the Briton Ferry Estate and the William Watkins Estate in Mount Pleasant, before the firm closed in the late 1990s.
Swansea Bay Business Club President, Alan Brayley, said: “We are very sad to hear that Philip Watkins has passed away. Philip and his father Oliver, who was a Club President in the late 1970s, both gave stellar service at a time of growth and change for the club and during times of challenge and opportunity for business in the Swansea Bay area. Our thoughts go out to Phillip’s family at this difficult time.”
