On Friday 17th May 2024, Swansea Bay Business Club will meet at Tŷ Milford Waterfront Hotel. Attendees at May Lunch will enjoy a delicious two-course meal, with the opportunity to network with fellow Swansea Bay Business Club members and guests from across the Swansea Bay City Region.

Huw Thomas is a dairy son from Pembrokeshire, who has spent thirty-five years in agriculture related roles throughout the UK. Huw spent ten years as a research scientist at Cambridge University’s Department of Genetics, before starting work in the Welsh Development Agency/Welsh Government Agri-Food Strategy team.

In 2009, Huw Thomas returned to his home country of Pembrokeshire to start Puffin Produce. Since then, he has built a team of over 300 employees, that has grown the business from a £6m turnover to a forecasted £85m for 2024 and 2025.

Puffin Produce and Pembrokeshire Creamery have long term supply relationships established with local supermarkets such as Aldi, Asda, Coop, Lidl, M&S, Morrisons, Spar, Tesco and Waitrose, gaining retail sales of over £1m per month. In October 2021 the business launched ‘Root Zero’ the UK’s first carbon neutral potato which is available in Waitrose and Coop stores throughout the UK.

This event will be open to members only initially and will open to non-members should capacity not be reached nearer to the event date.
