Location: Parc y Scarlets, Llanelli

Swansea Bay Business Club celebrates St. David’s Day at Parc y Scarlets in Llanelli sponsored by Activity Wales. Former Wales international rugby union player, Ryan Jones MBE, will be speaking at the Celebration Event.

On Tuesday 1st March 2022, Swansea Bay Business Club will meet at rugby union stadium and home to the Scarlets and Llanelli RFC, Parc y Scarlets in Llanelli. Attendees at the St David’s Day celebration lunch will enjoy a delicious three course meal, with the opportunity to network with fellow Swansea Bay Business Club members and guests from across the Swansea Bay City Region.

Our guest speaker, Ryan Jones MBE, is a former Wales international rugby union player who has seen Wales through three Grand Slam wins, including during his time as captain in 2008 and 2012, and four Six Nations titles. Having played at number eight, blindside flanker and second row, he’s no stranger to pressure in the sporting world. After his retirement from the sport in 2015, Jones joined the Welsh Rugby Union executive board until 2020, was a non-executive member of the Welsh Rugby Players’ Association board and is now working for Sport Wales.

In 2021, Jones was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for his service to rugby union football and his charitable efforts in Wales. Jones helped set up the Princes Gate Trust charity foundation (later renamed Dare to Dream), which has helped raise £1m, primarily for underprivileged children. He’s also gone on to raise money for various other charities and the NHS during the pandemic.

Ryan will be talking to the Club about the benefits of sport when it comes to your wellbeing, especially at a time when looking after our mental as well as physical health is so important.

Tickets will be available to members only initially and will open to non-members should capacity not be reached nearer to the event date. The date the event will open to non-members will be at the discretion of the Executive Board for each event.
