Join Swansea Bay Business Club for our September Breakfast event, at St. Brides, Spa Hotel in Saundersfoot. Our guest speaker Gus Jaspert, Managing Director of Marine at The Crown Estate and former Governor of the British Virgin Islands. This event is sponsored by Morgan LaRoche.
On Friday 15th September 2023, Swansea Bay Business Club will meet at St. Brides Spa Hotel, perched above Saundersfoot harbour in Pembrokeshire National Park. Attendees at the September Breakfast will have opportunity to network with fellow Swansea Bay Business Club members and guests from across the Swansea Bay City Region.
Gus Jaspert first joined The Crown Estate in October 2022 from his previous role of Director General for Delivery Group in the Home Office. The Crown Estate’s Marine holdings, valued at £5 billion, include management of the seabed and around half of the foreshore around England, Wales, and Northern Ireland. It works with a wide range of partners to balance the competing needs of a busy seabed in support of the marine environment. This includes growing the UK’s world leading offshore wind industry and the development of carbon capture and hydrogen markets, alongside facilitating the development of other sectors including cables, pipelines, and marine aggregates.
Since then, Gus has worked twice in Number 10 Downing Street for two different Prime Ministers, focused on shaping strategy and delivery outcomes for the Government on regeneration and the Net Zero agenda. Gus also served as governor of the British Virgin Islands in August 2017 where he led the Territory in the response and recovery from devastating hurricanes, and as Director of Security and Intelligence for the Cabinet Office.
Gus’ extensive knowledge within the Marine industry makes him the perfect guest speaker to discuss the Celtic Sea supply chain opportunities in Pembrokeshire, an area known for its 186-mile spectacular coastal path covering some of the most varied coastal scenery in Britain, from St Dogmaels in the north, to Amroth in the south.
